About Guitar Workout Club
Guitar Workout Club was created to make guitar practice simpler, more focused and easier to repeat. Choose what you want to train, press play and build your skills through structured play-along workouts.
Created by guitarist and guitar coach Wouter Baustein, the platform is built around one simple idea: less talking, more playing.
Why Guitar Workout Club Exists
Most guitar players do not need more information.
They need a better way to practise what they already know.
It is easy to collect lessons, tabs, exercises and theory without spending enough time actually playing. Guitar Workout Club was created to make practice more focused, repeatable and easier to turn into a routine.
Instead of another course built around levels, you choose the skill you want to train, press play and follow a focused workout at a fixed tempo. Beginners, intermediate players and experienced guitarists can use the same training principle: repeat the work, increase the challenge and return to specific skills whenever they need attention.
The goal is simple: spend less time deciding what to practise and more time with your hands on the guitar.
The focus is not on what level you are. It is on building a training routine and making measurable progress over time.
Play. Train. Progress.
Wouter Baustein
Guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, music producer and guitar coach with more than 30 years of teaching and coaching experience.
I have spent most of my life playing, producing and teaching music. Over the years, I have worked with guitarists at very different levels — from players building their basic coordination to experienced musicians looking for better timing, control, technique and consistency.
That experience shaped Guitar Workout Club. I wanted to create something different from another guitar course: a place where the focus is simply on doing the work, playing along and repeating the skills that actually improve your playing.
The workouts are based on the same principle I use in coaching: isolate one skill, practise it with a clear target, repeat it consistently and make the challenge harder when you are ready.
Background
Built Around Training, Not Levels
Every workout has one job: give you something specific to train and make it easy to repeat consistently.
You do not need to complete a course or fit into a particular level. Choose the skill that needs attention, train it at a suitable tempo and return to it as often as needed.
Focus on One Skill
Each workout targets a clear part of your playing, such as coordination, chords, scales, picking, timing or rhythm.
Press Play and Train
Follow the workout in real time instead of spending your practice session deciding what to play or constantly stopping between exercises.
Repeat With Purpose
Come back to the same workout until the movement, timing or technique becomes more controlled, consistent and reliable.
Increase the Challenge
When the skill becomes comfortable, increase the tempo, choose a harder workout or move on — and return whenever that skill needs more work.
A Little More About Me
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Germany and I am currently based in Belgium. Music has been part of my life from the very beginning — I practically grew up next to the piano, with my musical sister playing at home.
Did you study music?
Yes. I studied at Jazz Studio Antwerp and later at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where I focused on guitar, composition, songwriting and contemporary music.
How long have you been playing music?
I started playing piano at the age of five and picked up the guitar around the age of eleven. Music has been a major part of my life ever since — as a guitarist, producer, composer and coach.
What kind of music do you play?
I have never been very interested in locking myself into one particular style. Rock, pop, blues, jazz, metal, funk, electronica, classical music and even medieval music can all inspire me. I also enjoy working with EDM and progressive house. If something works musically and I connect with it, I am interested.
What influences your approach to teaching?
My approach combines what I learned through formal music studies, the ideas and training methods I brought back from the United States, and more than three decades of my own experience as a guitarist, producer and coach. Over time, I shaped all of that into my own practical approach: keep what works, remove what does not and focus on what actually improves your playing.
Why workouts instead of lessons?
Workouts are not a replacement for lessons. Lessons help you learn something; workouts help you train what you have learned. At some point, knowing what to do is no longer enough — your hands need to be able to do it reliably, efficiently and consistently.
Why compare guitar practice to physical training?
Because the principle is very similar. You do not train your body because you have forgotten how it works. You train to maintain your abilities, improve them and make them more efficient. Guitar training works the same way: repetition turns knowledge into something you can actually do.
Is Guitar Workout Club built for a specific level?
No. Guitar Workout Club is built around training, routine and progress, not labels such as beginner, intermediate or advanced. Different players may choose different workouts or tempos, but the principle remains the same: train the skill that needs attention, repeat it and increase the challenge over time.
